How to establish water service, pay bills, and report issues for the City of Clinton Water Department

Water Bills

Payment options:

  • Dropboxes at Municipal Annex and Public Works.
  • Online at www.ClintonMS.org.
  • Call 601-202-4382 to pay your bill through our automated water bill payment system. Customers wishing to utilize the service will need their account number.

Establishing New Service

To arrange water service, apply in person at the City Public Works Facility located at 525 Springridge Road. There is a non-refundable service fee for homeowners of $125.00 to set up water service with the City of Clinton and $175.00 for customers who rent or lease. Customers transfering service from one location to another will be charged a $75 service fee.

Billing

Customers are mailed bills monthly for water usage; the billing also includes the sanitary sewer charge and the solid waste disposal fee.

Water payments are due by 4:00 pm on the last business day prior to the 20th of each month.  Accounts with payments not received by 4:00 pm on the last business day prior to the 20th will automatically be charged a $15.00 late fee the first month of non-payment.

For those accounts that carry a balance over from the previous month, the entire balance due on the account must be paid in order to avoid interruption of service. Service will not be reinstated until the account is paid in full.

No water service will be reinstated due to nonpayment after 4:00 p.m. or on weekends and holidays, the water department will begin the normal reconnection process the next business day. If water is reconnected by anyone other than an authorized agent of the City, there will be an additional $100.00 tamper fee plus the cost of any damage to locks or meters. There is a $35.00 charge for all returned checks·and the water may be disconnected without prior notice, all charges and fees must be paid in cash before service is restored.

Payments are accepted from 7:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday in the Water Department.

Payment drop boxes are located at City Hall, 300 Jefferson  St., Public Works, 525 Springridge Rd., and Clinton Municipal Annex, 961 Hwy 80 E., and are available 24-hours  a day until 4:00 p.m. on the last business day before the 20th of each month at which time they will be locked until the end of the month.

Water customers may call 601-202-4382 to pay their bill through our automated water bill payment system. Customers wishing to utilize the service will need their account number. Online by credit card.

Water Quality

The City of Clinton water customers are fortunate because they enjoy an abundant water supply from two excellent quality ground water sources, the Sparta and Cockfield aquifers.We pump this water from nine deep wells, of which six pull from the Sparta and three from the Cockfield aquifers. The City Of Clinton has a total of five elevated storage tanks with a combined capacity of 2.9 million gallons of drinking water. The average daily consumption for 2017 was 3.5 million gallons, which travel through approximately 175 miles of water mains.

Meter Maintenance

Water meter maintenance, such as broken lids, missing lids, broken meters, curb stops or shut off valves is performed by the Water Maintenance crew. The work is scheduled by the Public Works Department at 601-924-2239.
