Event, Parade, and Fireworks Permits

Permit application to conduct a Parade/Assembly/Event/Fireworks Show within the City of Clinton, Mississippi.

Parade Permit Application

Parade permits are required to host any event, demonstration, or parade on a public ROW or public property. All applications are approved at the discretion of the Chief of Police. No event may be scheduled for any ROW or public space without prior approval from the Clinton Police Department. 

Parade and Street Closure Permit Procedures

1.     Contact Lt. Mike Kelly at Clinton Police Department to attain a date and permit application at 601-924-5252 or [email protected].

2.     Lt. Kelly will forward completed permit application to the Police Chief and Main Street Director for approval.

3. Date cannot conflict with any planned City event in the corresponding area.

4.     Lt. Kelly returns completed permit to applicant.

Applications may be downloaded below or picked up at the Clinton Police Department at 305 Monroe Street. Completed permit may be returned to Lt. Mike Kelly at Clinton Police Department to attain a date and permit application. Contact: 601-924-5252 or [email protected]. Once signed by the Police Chief, the permit application will serve as the permit.

Fireworks Show Application

Hosting a private fireworks display in the City of Clinton requires a permit.

All applications are approved at the discretion of the Chief of Police, Fire Chief, and Communicaiton Director. No event may be scheduled for any ROW or public space without prior approval through this approval process.

Applications may be downloaded below or picked up at the Clinton Police Department at 305 Monroe Street. 

Fireworks Display Application Procedures

1.     Contact Lt. Mike Kelly at Clinton Police Department to attain a date and permit application at 601-924-5252 or [email protected].

2.     Lt. Kelly will forward completed permit application to the Fire Marshal, Police Chief and Communications Director for interdepartmental approvals.

3.     Lt. Kelly returns completed permit to applicant.

4.     Complete regulations and safety checklist.

5.     Event must abide by all noise and road closure ordinances.

6.     14 days prior to the event, the applicant must:

a.      Notify the Communications Director of street closures, location, date, and time of event.

b.     Notify adjacent neighborhoods and businesses of event by letter at least one week in advance of event.

c.      Utilize all available tools to notify the community of event.

d.     Provide name and contact of professional fireworks company contracted to fire the shells.

e.      Claim responsibility for clean-up defined in contract with the professional fireworks company.

f.      Provide Certificate of Insurance obtained from fireworks company with a minimum limit of $1,000,000.00 for bodily injury and property.

g.     Attach copy of certificate of insurance.

h.     Provide diagram of the fireworks site.

7.     2 days prior to the event: Schedule fireworks inspection with the Fire Marshal

8.     Day of the event, complete final inspection by Fire Marshal (or CFD representative) prior to discharge of fireworks.
