James Lott

Ward 6

Ward 6 is represented by James Lott III.  James has been a resident of Clinton for 26 years and has served the community in multiple roles.  He has served with the City of Clinton’s Planning & Zoning Commission, Clinton Rotary Club, Main Street Clinton, Clinton Chapter NAACP, Leadership Clinton, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Mississippi and on the Central Mississippi Planning & Development District's Aging Advisory Board. James has also taught high school social studies and coached football at Callaway High School.  

During the COVID-19 Crisis of 2020, Alderman Lott, a 1st Lt in the MS Air National Guard, commanded the Hinds County COVID-19 Vaccine Site.  The COVID Response Team under his command conducted over 11,000 COVID tests and delivered over 53,000 vaccines to the citizens of Central Mississippi.    

Prior to commissioning as an officer, Alderman Lott served 8 years active duty as a recruiter for the MS Air National Guard, where he was awarded the Air National Guard National Recruiter of the Year award, the nation’s highest honor for Air National Guard recruiting efforts.  

James has a bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration from Jackson State University and a master's degree in public administration from Belhaven University.
