Hurricane Ida Response Information
No garbage collection on Monday
Clinton, Miss. (August 29, 2021) In preparation for Hurricane Ida, City of Clinton officials have been coordinating with local, state, and non-governmental agencies to serve residents. First responders are asking residents to shelter in place on Monday to assist in preventing unnecessary calls.
Ida is forecast to bring 4-6” of rainfall to our area over the next 36 hours. Locally heavy downpours resulting in flash flooding are also possible. Please avoid roads that are under water. “Turn Around, Don’t Drown.”
CPD, CFD, and Public Works are monitoring several areas that are prone to flash flooding. Tanglewood at Post Road, Abbey Oaks Street, Broadway Street, Patio Place, and Monroe Street are areas of concern. Please do not attempt to drive around barricades.
Entergy has thousands of personnel on standby to restore power. With widespread power outages forecast, please be patient as crews work to safely restore power.
Please do not attempt to remove limbs from downed power lines or move power lines from roadways. Please call 601-924-5252 to report downed power lines and other issues to dispatch.
Residents with medical devices that need charging, the lobby at CPD has a charging station for medical devices.
Waste Management has postponed collection for Monday in Clinton. Service will resume on the next regularly scheduled collection day.
City Public Works crews have already supplied seven dump truck loads of sand for sandbags in advance of Hurricane Ida.
City personnel that are not engaged in response to Hurricane Ida are asked to stay home until noon on Monday. Please contact your supervisor should you have any concerns.
