Paving to Begin July 19 with Arrow Drive at Top of the List

June 28, 2021 Update:

The 2021 street paving project will begin on JUly 19, 2021. Adcamp has requested to begin in July due to the wet spring, which has delayed completion of other projects already under way by Adcamp around the state.

Mayor Fisher has required that Arrow Drive be paved no later than August 8 in preparation for the return of school.

Adcamp has been approved as contractor with the lowest and best bid of $949,588.30 for the 2021 Street Paving and Stiping project. During the June 1, 2021 meeting the Board approved the contract.

Bids came in under budgeted funds. City Engineer Bill Owen stated that the remaining funds in the 2021 budget will be used to stripe and pave additional streets with a change order as the project gets under way.

Roads slated for milling and overlay in 2021:

Parents, teachers and, students of Clinton Schools, as well as residents along Arrow Drive will be relieved that the heavily used road tops the list.

The one-and-a-half-mile long stretch will undergo significant base repair, milling and overlay. The entire length of Arrow Drive from Pinehaven to Cynthia carries thousands of cars each day. City leaders understand the importance of the road to the growth and appearance of our City.

“Now that the bulk of the construction at the schools’ has been completed, it is time to restore Arrow Drive to pristine condition. The road appearance should reflect the excellence in education happening inside the buildings and the beautiful architecture creating the unique corridor of academic and community excellence in Clinton,” stated Mayor Phil Fisher. “We need a road that shows Clinton as beautiful and welcoming.”

Coinciding with the paving of Arrow Drive, the Arrow Drive/Cynthia Road multi-use path project has begun. This project will tie in the existing asphalt path that runs from Clinton High School to Clinton Park Elementary to Pinehaven Road to the west and down Cynthia to Baseball alley to the east. This project will enhance the recreational opportunities available to residents and visitors.  

Many residents inquire how streets are chosen each year for paving. According to consulting city Engineer Bill Owen, streets were graded and prioritized based on need for paving or striping. Grading considers potholes, reticulating, surface stability, and other factors that impact the usefulness and safety of the roadbed.
